The Beauty Industry Development Project (BIDP) is a grassroots initiative dedicated to uplifting artisans in the beauty and fashion sectors. We work with hairdressers, barbers, dressmakers, make‑up artists, and weavers across Wa West and beyond. Born out of a detailed survey of 400 artisans, BIDP responds directly to their needs by creating opportunities for growth, affordability, and visibility.

The Beauty Industry Development Project (BIDP) traces its origins to 24th August 2024, when a nationwide call for innovations was announced under the Young Africa Innovate (YAI) Programme.
On 2nd April 2025, BIDP received an official notice of selection to join the UNDP/Nonihub Bootcamp, an intensive programme designed to equip innovators with the tools and skills to scale their initiatives.
From 9th to 11th April 2025, BIDP was represented at the 3-day Bootcamp in Delegio by Yakubu Sherifdeen, a young innovator from Ponyentanga.
To manage the growing scope of BIDP, the project officially appointed Asani Abdul Ganiu from Ponyentanga as its first Project Manager on 20th May 2025.
Just days after Nyoli, BIDP extended its sensitisation drive to Ponyentanga on 25th September 2025.
